Book Review - Liane Moriaty - Here one Moment
Imagine if someone told you exactly when and how you were going to die. What would you do? Would you live differently? Here One Moment, Liane Moriarty’s latest book, explores that idea with her usual mix of mystery and heart.
The story starts on an ordinary flight when an older lady whispers to the passengers around her, predicting when and how they’ll each die. At first, everyone thinks she’s just a bit odd, but then her predictions start to come true. Suddenly, the passengers are left wondering – should they trust her? And if so, how should they live knowing when their time is up?
Liane Moriarty creates characters who feel real and easy to connect with. Each one reacts differently – some feel scared, others start to live more fully, and some don’t believe her at all. Their stories make us wonder, “What would I do if I thought I was going to die soon?” I really enjoyed the character progressions also... there were so many to like and you easily became invested into each of their journeys and stories.
The book is written in short, clear chapters, and I found it an easy read. She uses humour to balance out the heavy questions, which keeps the story from feeling too dark.
Here One Moment is a thought-provoking read. It’s about courage, choices, and how precious each day can be. Moriarty’s storytelling makes you think, laugh, and maybe even feel a little braver. If you enjoy stories about people, feelings, and mysteries, this book is definitely worth picking up!
